Unearth

If you’re unfamiliar with the band Unearth, it’s time for you to get familiar. During times when selling records has come above the love of music, Unearth refuses to water down their music just to get more airtime and publicity. Their 2006 CD release II: In the Eyes of Fire surpasses all definitions of heavy metal and could only be described as downright brutal. The only comparisons that could be made would probably be when you take the most hard-hitting sounds of Pantera, Slayer and Iron Maiden and listen to it right beside theirs. The music is complex structure-wise and filled with furious emotion.

But for those of you that are already in the know, I’ve got some sad news for you. It has been detailed in the band’s myspace page that drummer Mike Justian has left the band. The rest of the band refused to give any details on the sudden line-up change but just stated that they grew apart as individuals and musicians. It seems as though that all parties believe that parting ways will be for the best.

The rest of the band goes on to comment that they find Justian as an amazing drummer who will no doubt become part of another band and wished him the best of luck in all future endeavors.

In the band’s true form though, they will continue on with touring with the help of Strapping Young Lad’s drummer Gene Hoglan filling in the vacant position. Unearth is actually on tour with Dimmu Borgir, Devil Driver and Kataklysm in support of their latest release.
