The legendary black metal band Mayhem will once again tour the US. Although the tour is only for a short 8 days, the band’s return to US soil can be considered a momentous one since it will be the first time that they would do so in 6 years. The tour will be in support of their latest CD release Ordo Ad Chao which features the return of vocalist Attila Csihar who first performed with the band on their 1993 release.

Mayhem is considered to be a legendary band due to having one of the darkest and sordid histories. In total, there have been 10 Mayhem band members while only 4 actually comprise the current band line up. The founding members Manheim, Euronymous and Necrobutcher formed the band in 1984 and were later joined by Maniac.

After their 1987 release, Manheim and Maniac left and were replaced by Dead and Hellhammer. In 1991, Dead committed suicide while Hellhammer left the band. After Dead’s suicide, the band went on a downward spiral until 1993 when Euronymous and Hellhammer brought in Count Grishnackh, Blackthorn and Atilla. Later that year though, tragedy once again struck the band when Count Grishnackh stabbed and killed Euronymous. Count Grishnackh was imprisoned, and still remains in prison, for the murder of his band mate.

In 1997, Hellhammer decided to reform the band along with Necrobutcher, Maniac and new member Blasphemer. By 2004, another line up change occurred as Maniac left and Atilla returned.
