Andrea Ferro on the Past, Present and Future of Lacuna Coil

Lacuna Coil’s male singer Andrea Ferro recently sat down for an interview and answered questions about the recent tour, doing acoustic sets, the success of Karmacode and what could be the next step for the band.

Lacuna Coil is currently on a tour called “The Hottest Chicks in Metal”. Ferro thinks that it’s a stupid title but says it’s for something different. It’s an excuse to catch a different kind of attention for a package that is unlike any other.

Speaking of something different, he was asked to comment about the band performing acoustic. Ferro says that it’s mainly to show people that you can play a heavy metal song with a guitar and two voices and still make it work. It was a move to encourage people to have fun with music.

On Karmacode, Ferro deems it as a success for having achieved a high position on the charts and selling as much as it has in a year. Although Karmacode still hasn’t reached the success of Comalies, Ferro says that the time since each release does mean something considering that Comalies has been out for nearly 5 years.

As for what’s next after the current tour, the band as a whole is considering another tour in the States as a support act because as far as they are concerned, they are done with the current album. They are all looking forward to making another album with the focus on song writing and making the next release even bigger.

With Karmacode being a little ways away from the natural direction of the band, we could only imagine what’s next. Ferro says that the band wants to go different ways by incorporating different elements as they go along without having to compromise the band’s sound. He goes on to say that the band is always trying to find new inspiration, different song writing and different producers to see where their music can go and that it’s all about evolution while still being their music.
